The Purpose of This Blog

Is to self-document my journey with (hopefully) my new ultimate equine trail buddy and horsey soul mate. It may sound like I'm banking a lot on his hide, but I'm keeping it cool... I'm open to the possibilites and we'll just see how we progress. It could very well turn out that I bring him along for a handful of years, enjoy him and then he becomes my son's horse. Only time will tell.

In my posts, I will go over what I'm doing and why I use the tools and techniques I do. I'm the kind of horse person to apply what works for each horse as an individual. I'm not sure yet how far I'll bring him along before sending him to a trainer, if I do. Either way, I'll have fun with the process of breaking down each encounter and session.

About Max

Born in 2006 of a feral Fjord mare purchased at auction, this boy apparently came out loving people. His daddy was a black Quarter Horse.

He may not be the best-built horse to a discerning eye, but he's certainly stout enough to carry my stout self, hopefully for many years and many miles.

He's very sweet and personable, coming straight to you as you enter the pasture. While not quite yet bombproof, once he decides something is not a threat, he's quite content to ignore it. He seems to embrace new experiences and explorations.
